Todd Murray isn’t just a volunteer; he’s a hero in action. His selfless acts of bravery and generosity are not just part of his job but are woven into the very fabric of his life, heavily influenced by his family’s strong tradition of service.
Todd works as a Senior Core Technician with the Geology team at Agnico Eagle's Hope Bay project in Nunavut. Growing up, Todd and his friends were always ready to pitch in at the local Murillo Agricultural Fair. Today, his passion for community involvement continues to shine brightly. He has actively supervised the Volunteer Thunder Bay Youth Volunteer Program, worked tirelessly at Shelter House, fundraising and cooking for hundreds, and supported Easter Seals Ontario, making sure events ran smoothly both behind the scenes and as a participant. Todd's love for sports led him to volunteer at the Ontario Winter Games, and he continues to serve his community selflessly, even in emergencies.
A Remarkable Act of Bravery: Last November, Todd's quick thinking and courage saved a woman's life. He found her on the train tracks and stayed with her until paramedics arrived. His heroic actions don't stop there. As an active member of Hope Bay’s Emergency Rescue Team, Todd was recognized as an honorary citizen in Lynn Lake, Manitoba for his bravery in battling forest fires in 2021.
Whether personally or professionally, Todd leads by example, sharing his expertise humbly. "It's better to teach," he says, "the only win is when the team wins." His commitment to teamwork and community involvement is unwavering, making him a true role model.
A Well-Deserved Honour: For his outstanding acts of community service, Todd Murray has been named the 17th recipient of the annual Paul Penna Community Service Award. This award honours the Agnico Eagle employees who best reflect our founder’s values of community involvement, dedication and hard work, ensuring that Paul Penna’s Culture of the Heart remains a central part of Agnico Eagle’s identity and continues to inspire positive actions by our employees.

Todd has chosen the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) in honour of his nephew, Nixon Roderick Murray, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 7. JDRF is the leading global organization funding Type 1 diabetes research, with an exclusive focus and singular influence on the worldwide effort to end juvenile diabetes.
