Our 2022 Sustainability Report, We Make Mining Work, marks the 14th year that Agnico Eagle has produced a detailed account of our health, safety, environmental and social performance.
The theme of this year’s report reflects our long-standing approach to doing business, which is to responsibly develop mineral resources for the benefit of everyone. We believe in sharing success with those around us, including our investors and the communities in which we operate. Agnico Eagle has been making mining work for over six decades, and it is the way we intend to keep operating.
In our 2022 Sustainability Report, we feature some of the important work we are doing to ensure that the benefits of mining last well beyond the life of our mines, including supporting social and economic infrastructures that are vital to enhancing the quality of life in our host communities.
Being a trusted and valued member of our local communities remains a top priority for Agnico Eagle. We strive to build and maintain strong partnerships with all stakeholders, including Indigenous communities, and we continue to support their development.
Some additional highlights in this year’s report include:
• Our approach to health, safety, and wellness and how we attained the best safety performance in our Company’s history
• Our commitment to achieve Net-Zero emissions by 2050; and reach an interim reduction target of 30% of absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030
• Our sponsorship of the Dr. Leanne Baker Scholarship and Development Program, which supports the advancement of women in Agnico Eagle through a two-year mentorship and training program
• Our investment in local communities, including $1.2 billion in employee wages and benefits, $1.36 billion in the procurement of local goods and services, and $16 million in support of various local organizations and events
