Agnico Eagle has built a global reputation as a mine finder and builder, and nowhere is that truer than in Nunavut, Northern Canada. After 10 years of mining and exploration activity, we are poised to open our Meliadine mine and Amaruq satellite deposit in the Kivalliq region. This will grow our Canadian gold production by almost 40% and help us in our goal to provide direct and indirect employment to nearly 1,000 Inuit in the region. 

Nunavut is a welcoming place to do business with unlimited mineral potential, knowledgeable and business-friendly communities and tremendous Inuit workforce potential. This, along with our disciplined approach to project development, has allowed Agnico Eagle to build Meliadine and Amaruq substantially ahead of schedule. In fact, we are very close to pouring our first gold at Meliadine and processing initial loads of ore from Amaruq.
