2017 sustainable development report now available
We are pleased to release Agnico Eagle’s 2017 sustainable development report titled
Working Together for a Sustainable Future.
In addition to providing insight into our sustainable development performance and priorities, the report celebrates our culture of caring, collaboration and innovation – which have been key to our resilience and business success for over 60 years.
These attributes support our desire to
put people first by:
-
providing our employees with stable long-term employment and healthy, safe work environments;
-
working collaboratively from the outset to gain social acceptance of our projects and ensure we provide lasting economic benefits to our communities; and,
-
partnering with communities to take advantage of traditional knowledge, where it is available, to improve our understanding of the environment in which we will be working.
This is the ninth year we have produced a detailed account of our sustainability performance. It covers the period between January 1st and December 31st 2017 and is available as a downloadable
summary report
and an interactive
website.
Once again we have used the Sustainability Reporting Guidelines (G4) as developed by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the Mining Association of Canada’s (MAC) Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) initiative to account for our performance and have provided our
comprehensive performance data tables
for easy reference.
New this year is a section that highlights the contributions Agnico Eagle and its partners are making towards a set of global sustainable development goals that were adopted by the United Nations in 2015. These 17 goals – known as the SDGs – focus on ending global poverty, protecting the planet and ensuring prosperity for all.
