Agnico Eagle Rings Out its 60th Year in Business at the New York Stock Exchange!

December 21, 2017

Agnico Eagle celebrated a major milestone earlier this year, reaching 60 years in operation. To complete a year of celebrating our special anniversary year, we were invited to ring the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on Thursday, December 21st.

Being listed on the NYSE is very important to our business as it is where we now trade the majority of our shares and the U.S. is also where our largest shareholder base is located.

This is Agnico Eagle’s fourth time being recognized with bell-ringing privileges as we also participated on our 10th, 15th and 20th anniversary of being listed on the stock exchange, however the podium guests were still keen to do a short tour of the Exchange and also took the opportunity to visit the trading floor before taking their places for the ceremony.

Excitement reached peak levels as the Agnico Eagle delegation took their positions at the famous podium and at precisely 15 seconds before 4:00 p.m. Sean Boyd pressed the button to ring the closing bell, while Agnico Chairman Jim Nasso brought the ceremonial gavel down with a bang, exactly on the hour, to mark the official close of trading.

“This year we’ve had the opportunity to reflect on what we have built with the support of our employees, communities and business partners. The past sixty years have seen our Company evolve into one of the largest gold companies in the world and we are now poised to enter one of the most exciting periods of growth yet”, said Sean Boyd, Vice-Chair and CEO. “I am immensely proud of our team and I want to thank our employees and our Board of Directors for their commitment and support. Sixty years of generating superior shareholder value, cultivating employee excellence and contributing to the communities where we operate – that is the legacy we celebrate today!”
